Summary
From a historical point of view, the International Crafts Fair is one of the oldest of all events put on by the Zagreb Fair. As far back as the 13th century, King Bela IV gave Zagreb tradesmen or master-craftsmen the right to hold their own fairs. However, before the war for Croatian independence, tradesmen were not allowed to exhibit under their own names, only under the aegis of various forms of cooperatives.
